FATBACK BIKES HAS CEASED OPERATIONS
and renamed THE COMPANY to “CORVUS CYCLES” BY OCT 2021
FATBACK SKOOKUM and SKOOKUM FLT
(now called the “CORVUS SKOOKUM” after company name change in 2021)
Skookum frame released in 2015 (7yr old design still in production as of 2022, no changes to frame design)
“FLT” race-spec version released in 2016, and discontinued in 2021.
Warranty change on Corvus Cycles website in mid 2022 - details were removed from website between 2020 to early 2022 (old warranty was 5 years or Lifetime, new warranty is 3 years or less).
STA angle = 73 and HTA = 68.5 degrees between 2015-2020. Fatback underwent a name change to Corvus Cycles and made a marketing adjustment to the Skookum frame geometry : STA changed from 73 to 74, and HTA changed from 68.5 to 67.
Mastodon COMP/PRO 120mm STD suspension (AC=531) introduced between 2018/21, and replaced the Bluto RCT3 120 (2016-18) which had same axle-to-crown height.
Skookum frame was originally registered as made in Taiwan, between 2015-2019, but we began receiving bike boxes with serial numbers and CI - “MADE IN CHINA” designations after that date. Paint alterations were detected on frames after this date, and some had dropper post internal cable routing issues. Warranty claims increased after late 2019 (top tube, seat tube, chainstay).
We discontinued selling Fatback bikes by early 2020, as it was no longer a viable option to sell this brand, and the original staff had left the company. Under new management in 2020, the manufacturer switched to factory-direct sales during the bicycle sales boom of the early pandemic stages, bypassing their long-established dealer base of 80+ shops, which quickly shrank to under 10 stocking dealers worldwide.
There were at least 3 main production runs of the Skookum frame. The best Skookum frames (with the least amount of warranty claims) were the non-FLT models manufactured before mid-2019, and after 2016. That production run also had the nicest paint schemes. If you are looking for the best version of this bike, that is the group to look for. The underside of the downtube will be painted black for the white frames, and green for the blue frames during that production run period.
